One hot summer evening while Dixie was performing at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Colonel Charles Frank with the USO Department of Defense was in the audience and just loved what he saw, he asked Dixie to tour Europe and entertain our US troops. This lead to 12 extensive award winning two month tours to nearly every part of the world. In 1983 Dixie's magic show was voted the show US troops would most like to see again on the European circuit. In 1984, Dixie got a taste of what it was like to entertain US servicemen while in a life-threatening combat situation. He received awards and letters from the troops and a standing ovation on the USS Guam off the coast of Beirut.

| While performing in the Village with the legendary Slydini
at a club called "Mostly Magic", Dixie experienced one of the
most unusual nights of his life. He ventured into the home of
Houdini! Dixie acquired from the owner hundreds of personal items
belonging to Houdini, posters, packing crates, printing plates, ladders,
and the list goes on and on....

| In 1978, Dixie gave his first appearance at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Sun called him "The Toast of the South". It would be three years before Dixie returned to Las Vegas for the Cerebral Palsy Telethon at the Landmark Hotel and Casino. And four years later he moved to Las Vegas, leaving behind his home, family, and a lifetime of contracts and thousands of dollars in bookings behind in Augusta, Georgia. |

Dixie was welcomed to Las Vegas his first night by comedian
Red Foxx, and within two days landed a spot in the show "Here's
Entertainment" at the Bourbon Street Hotel and Casino. He played the
part of Houdini. While at the hotel he conducted the first annual Houdini
seance in Las Vegas. He also performed the 100ft rope escape in front of
the Casino!
